America is also our history

I still have a dream. It Is a Dream Deeply Rooted in the American dream - Martin Luther King

From Mast Avag to globalization, Americans and Europeans have built another for nearly three centuries. Two banks, two continents regularly raising many questions. Until May 9, 2011, the Tour & Taxis in Brussels, the Museum of Europe presents his new exhibition: America is also our history . This retrospective attempts to answer questions by tracing the history of two powers. It pushes the debate and genuine reflection.

Upon entering, the visitor is a character. It reminds the reason for his visit: to understand the links between the two continents such as America and Europe. His head is our planet Earth, common to all, supported by a body covered respectively the European flag and American flag. As of other words, the world rests on the relationship between these two lands.

visitor's route begins with an appetizer of art. In dark rooms and clean, with interactive installations, several artists exhibit their vision on the issue. The famous quote from Martin Luther King "I still have a dream" is present, reflecting the spirit of an America as dreamed.

The exhibition is divided into four movements. America European takes you into the New World when Europeans share the new continent. The purpose of this act ends with the American Revolution leading to the creation of the new state.

America American unveils a young republic emancipated now Europe. Welcomed by the Statue of Liberty, European immigrants saw America as a dream destination promising prosperity and freedom.

The American Europe is the third leg of this exhibition. America flies to the rescue of Europe at war. This part of the exhibition includes the Second World War, the Cold War confrontation United States and the USSR .. Europe is weak, divided by an "iron curtain" between East and West as America, it becomes the only major world power. The student has surpassed the master.

Europe and America fourth and final movement brings the visitor a real question. America appears as the sole "superpower." Europe, she progresses through its unification with the integration of the peoples of the defunct Soviet empire and the creation of a single currency, the euro. However, Facebook , Mac , television series, in other words the American culture, more than ever invaded the European lifestyle.

Throughout the exhibition, the visitor goes from one surprise. Fun and educational, it helps them learn, understand, or discover rediscover our past (and future?) common. Evidence, models, artwork along the way throughout the visit.

To end on a poetic touch e, the visitor crosses a bridge. Facing the ocean that separates the two continents, he was invited to consider: Are we so different from each other? What will our future relationship? Here are the final questions, no single answer. Who knows what tomorrow will bring ...

Best Christmas With Love Actually

There periods that are eagerly awaited. As was his birthday, a great trip and ... Christmas. Like Christmas .

J-19

At this time, I forfeit the series and I am turning to my DVD library and take out some small wonders ... Specifically, one of my beloved movies, and much loved favorite. One we can see again without getting tired and even the thirtieth time: Love Actually . This week Mister D. has paid the price. It enjoyable film, not Hugh Grant, we understand well. This social comedy British , so in love, takes us into the magic of a winter cold, snowy and yet so warm.

Immerse yourself in these wonderful moments Ben & Jerry hand, open fire and mulled wine. Christmas is coming.

"Love Actually Is All Around"

"... We are a small country indeed, but we are a great nation, home of Shakespeare, Churchill, the Beatles, Sean Connery , Harry Potter, David Beckham's right foot, his left foot too ... "

A film by Richard Curtis
With Bill Nighy, Gregor Fisher, Colin Firth, Hugh Grant, Keira Knightley ...
